Housed in the stylish Camden Harbor Inn, Natalie’s Restaurant is one of the most mesmeric dining spots in Maine.  Both the inn and the restaurant throb with creature comforts.   And the best way to experience this is through total immersion.  That means not just arriving for dinner but, rather, to stay at the inn, making the dining experience part of an overnight adventure in this sublimely scenic coastal village.

That’s exactly what I did, and one of the best parts of this pleasurable sojourn was waking up to have breakfast on the covered porch on a serene morning that concluded my stay.

It was one of those happy accidents.  I came across this great looking pie set on a table at North Haven’s Saturday morning farmer’s market. As dessert after dinner that evening we all gasped over how incredibly delicious it was.  This was lemon pie fit for exultation.

At 8:55 AM on Sunday morning 10 of us were waiting to get into Caiola’s for brunch.  The popular West End eatery was running late, opening 5 minutes past its 9:00 AM appointed hour.  Yes, I’ve written about Caiola’s brunch prowess many times and here I am again.   Yes, other Portland restaurants have distinctive brunch menus beyond the usual eggs Benedict. And I should venture forth.
